About this tour

We leave Ushuaia behind to discover one of the most authentic and less-traveled areas of Tierra del Fuego.

The journey begins by crossing the Fuegian Andes, passing through valleys and peat bogs along National Route 3. We then take a secondary road towards the coast of the Beagle Channel, surrounded by mountains and spectacular landscapes.

Our first stop is Puerto Almanza, a small and picturesque fishing village located on the shores of the Beagle Channel. Here, we will have time to explore the area and, if desired, enjoy lunch at one of the local restaurants. The area is well known for its seafood, especially king crab and other local seafood specialties. Lunch is not included and must be arranged in advance.

In the afternoon, we continue east for approximately 20 km along a scenic route following the Beagle Channel. Along the way, we will see the characteristic “flag trees”, shaped by the strong Fuegian winds, and enjoy beautiful views of the mountains and coastline.

We then reach Harberton Ranch, founded in 1886 and recognized as the oldest ranch in Tierra del Fuego. From the surrounding area, we can admire Cambaceres Bay and one of the most beautiful coastal landscapes in the region.

An optional guided visit to the ranch is available for those interested in discovering its history, its people, and the remarkable natural heritage of the area.

The entrance fee includes a visit to the Marine Mammal Bone Museum, created from the important legacy of naturalist Natalie Goodall, as well as an introduction to the marine fauna and natural history of the Beagle Channel.

There is also time to visit the traditional Tea House.

Visits to the ranch operate at fixed scheduled times, so the itinerary may need to be adjusted according to the available schedule on the day of the excursion.
