What to Pack for Ushuaia: Tips for Your Trip to the End of the World

Ushuaia has a very particular climate: weather conditions can change quickly, and conditions can be very different in the city, the mountains and Tierra del Fuego National Park.
Packing properly can make a big difference, especially if you are planning to enjoy outdoor activities, hikes or excursions.
Based on our experience, here are some tips to keep in mind before your trip.
🧥 Dress in layers
One of the best ways to adapt to Ushuaia's weather is to dress in layers. This makes it easy to add or remove clothing as temperatures and activity levels change.
🌧️ A good waterproof jacket is essential
Rain, snow and wind can occur even during the warmer months. A waterproof jacket with a hood will be one of your best allies when enjoying outdoor activities.
❄️ If you are visiting in winter
During winter, we recommend bringing thermal layers, gloves, a warm hat and a neck warmer or scarf, especially if you plan to enjoy snow activities or spend several hours outdoors.
🥾 Choose the right footwear
A pair of comfortable, sturdy and waterproof boots is particularly important if you are planning hikes or excursions through trails, forests and wet terrain.
🕶️ Don't forget sunscreen
Even when temperatures are low, you will still be exposed to the sun during many outdoor activities. Bring sunscreen and sunglasses, especially when spending time in the mountains or snow.
🎒 A small backpack is always useful
For excursions, we recommend carrying a small backpack with water, snacks, sunscreen, an extra layer of clothing and your personal belongings.
📷 Bring your camera
Tierra del Fuego offers incredible landscapes and you will probably want to capture them. If you also bring binoculars, you will have a better chance of observing the wildlife you may encounter during your excursions and boat trips.
📅 Book your excursions in advance
Some of Ushuaia's most popular experiences have limited availability, especially during the high season.
If you already know what you would like to do, we recommend booking in advance for activities such as Beagle Channel navigation, the End of the World Train, winter activities and trekking experiences.

You don't need to pack a completely different outfit for every day. The key to dressing for Ushuaia is being prepared for changing weather and being able to adapt throughout the day.

- Sunscreen and sunglasses: Although the weather may be cold, the sun can be very intense due to the high ultraviolet radiation in the region. Be sure to bring sunscreen and sunglasses to protect your skin and eyes.
- Waterproof boots: A pair of waterproof and sturdy boots are essential, especially if you plan to hike or trek in wet or snowy terrain.
- Small backpack: Bring a small backpack to carry water, snacks, sunscreen, an extra layer of clothing and other essentials during your outdoor activities.
- Camera and binoculars: Don't forget to bring a camera to capture Tierra del Fuego's breathtaking scenery and binoculars to observe local wildlife, such as birds and marine mammals.
- Book in advance: If you plan to do popular tourist activities, such as boat trips on the Beagle Channel or the End of the World Train, it is advisable to book in advance to secure your spot, especially during high season.
